Salad Days is a New York and Colorado-based independent streetwear brand and online skate and snowboard shop. Its Gen-X founders wanted a strong, menacing-looking mark, reminiscent of street gang and band marks from the early, more "punk-rock" days of skating culture. I drew on inspiration from 70's and early 80's hardcore band logos like Crass, The Dead Kennedys, and Black Flag, as well as the classic "Anarchy" symbol often seen in these spaces. The tag "Laundry Company" came about with the realization that no matter how "rooted in authentic street culture" your brand may be, ultimately, because of the intense lifestyle the buyer lives, you are just creating more and more laundry.
